Almaz is a single mother raising her child alone, and her journey has not been easy.Previously, she lived on the streets, struggling to survive. Currently, she resides in a shelter house called Mesert.
It was at this shelter that we provided Almaz with cervical cancer screening services. Her past, marked by multiple risk factors that increase her vulnerability, made this screening vital for her, though she hadn’t realized the importance of such a screening until she received the health education provided by our team.
Initially, she hesitated, fearing the speculum. However, as she saw other women in the shelter undergo the screening and reassure her that it was a simple procedure, she was convinced and decided to get screened. Her results came back positive and she immediately received on-the-spot thermal treatment. This prompt action was a significant relief for her.
