Meet Emahoy Tsehaynesh Kihnet, a 73-year-old mother of four from Kebele 04 in Gondar city. She has been suffering from prolapse for the past 30 years, and over the last five years, she noticed a significant increase in the size of the prolapse. Formerly employed as a cleaner in the city municipality, Emahoy has been the sole provider for her family since her husband’s passing.
Though aware of the availability of treatment options for prolapse, refrained from seeking assistance earlier due to financial constraints and fear of potential complications. Her concerns were compounded by the presence of hypertension and heart problems.
The impact of the prolapse on Emahoy Tsehaynesh’s daily life was profound, affecting her ability to sit comfortably and causing a persistent bloody discharge. The urinary issues were particularly distressing, with her spending up to an hour in the restroom each time she needed to pass urine. Grateful for the opportunity, recently underwent prolapse surgery free of charge at the teaching hospital.
